Everyone should go to York! May 31.

We went to York. We loved it so much we are going there again on the way back. I recommend everyone go to York next time they get a chance. The highlights were the Shambles, the York Minster Abbey, the medieval walls and the railway museum.

All the people were nice to us and the food was english. Great big full english breakfasts and fish and chips in the pub. Turns out there are lots of things to see here. This part of the trip should have gotten a lot more research than it did. Seems like we might be missing the best bits just around the bend.

The old part of town.

An interesting corner

An old part of the wall that circles York.

York Minster Abbey.

Tactile displays have given me a chance to keep up with braille reading.

The wall of The Kings at the York Minster Abbey.

Top of the tower of York Minster.

There are certain restrictions when climbing the top of the tower. The width of the door at the first level is one of them.

The techniques used of rock carving  has not changed since 1100 when this abbey was built.

The ceiling in one of the chapels in the Abbey.

Good old Constantine the Great, freed the Christians to worship as well as not restricting other religions from practicing there religions. His son Constantine the not so great made Catholicism the only religion everyone else was persecuted.

The local markets are great places to discover new food. Well Medieval food that is new to us.

Like these curl cakes
Just prepare the sweet dough and curl it around on a thick wooden dowel and roll it on sugar and almond, then bake it for a couple of minutes. Et voilà! A delicious medieval treat.

Box pews in an old church, I think they are more common in North America, this is the first we have seen in Europe.

The wall walks is one of the highlights in York. There are three remaining large parts of the original wall that once protected the city.

Gosling continue to put a smile on our faces.

Clifford's Tower.

A cool clock on a happy street.

A unicorn on top of York Castle Museum.

By George!! We have found George the cat. He is well settled and surrounded by toys, comfy chairs and many visitors at the York Castle museum.

Everyone agrees that George is in a better place.

An original stained glass at the Abbey.

Le Tour de France starts in York this year. This is an excellent beer to commemorate the event.

The fastest steam train in the world.

A Japanese bullet train. It was once the fastest train in the world, currently the french have the record with one of theirs.

Yoly loves trains!
